Hi everyone.
I have registered and I can now say what a fantastic site this is from the outside.
A little of my self. Been into astronomy for a littel over 2 years starting with little knowledge etc I have gained 10 years experience in those two short years. On 200 acres of dark site West of Casino. no neighbours no main grid power and candles for lights.
Gear 150sn, 150ar,70 x 600ar 80 x 400 ar and 302 X 1520 Bintel reflector (just got this one) and 35 mm cam web cam and 300d Canon. and not building (at the moment)a 235 x 1800 historic reflector.
I could go on and on about stuff but theres plenty of time for that later.

Hi alex!
:welcome: to the forum!
Just a bit of housekeeping, how did you hear about us?
Also you might want to post a pic of your gear in the equipment forum (send in a shot of your rig thread), and a picture of yourself if you're game (in the post a pic of yourself thread) :)
Sounds like you've got some nice gear there.. the 12" would be very nice under those dark dark skies. Where abouts is Casino? How far from the nearest city?
Thanks for taking the time to say a g'day!

Hi everyone thanks for the welcome, I think the skyies in the major Towns West, Tenterfield and East Casino Lismore and Ballina all enjoy good seeing on some occassions because there is little particle pollution, the impact of street lights etc is dramatically minimised. In the small towns I find it very easy see what you would consider illusive. I am going to have a serious talk with the Drake publican to get him to put in an observatory, and soon the bed and breakfasts around here will carry 12 inch scopes as standard ...one man can change things eh.
The 12 inch has passed my expectations I,m seeing stuff which is breathtakingly beautiful.. One neb I am not sure of its name I will check first but its unreal. If I can foto it wow. I am at the Drake Community Centre. Great place for a visit, I get my laundry done and coffee from loverly ladies and web access.
Leaving to go back to Sydney later today. I cant remember if I said it above but I managed to post a photo of the new scope on astronomydaily.com if you are curious, in fact most of my gear has been fotoed and posted there... but I will at some time take you for a trip around the place and the gear with some photos.
Alex
