Finally got a chance to test out my newly acquired Astronomik CLS-XL filter for my (unmodded) Canon 6D. Imaged from Sydney, NSW (red zone) using my 14.5" f4.8 SDM dobtracking via servocat. I am extremely impressed with filter and high iso noise performance of the 6D. Unfortunately I am limited to 10-15 seconds of subs before rotation kicks and I could do with more subs. Stacked in DSS and applied some curves & levels in PS CS6 (no idea what I'm doing). I'll spend a bit more time when i get the chance to try and tease out more detail and remove gradients, but for now i'm happy with these. Someday i'll get myself a de-rotater or equatorial platform :D

Each of these had ~ 20 darks applied to them. I had to drastically reduce the filesizes so they can be attached to the post unfortunately.

I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks :)

1) Butterfly cluster : 11 subs, 8 seconds, ISO1600/3200/6400
2) Eagle Nebula : 276 subs, 10 seconds each, ISO6400.
3) Jewel Box : 30 subs, 5 seconds each, ISO1600/3200/6400
4) Lagoon Nebula : 230 subs, 10 seconds each, ISO6400.
5) Omega Nebula : 53 subs, 10 seconds each, ISO6400.
5) Omega Centauri : 18 subs, 5 seconds each, ISO1600/3200/6400
6) Triffid Nebula : 288 subs, 10 seconds each, ISO6400.

Good test and nice collection of images Mohammed!

The only thing, I'd say is back off a little in red saturation.

Cheers,

Justin.

That's a nice collection. I think the globular cluster is an exciting result too.
Be interested to see more when u have them
- I think is a good thought, yet I still really like the Orion Nebula in this group.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the feedback. I actually didn't boost the red saturation at all that's how it was straight out of camera and after stacking. I'll have a play with the colours see what i can do.

Thanks Trevor
