Having just swallowed Truesense for $92m, ON is to take over the very innovative Aptina CMOS imaging as well for $400m. Who can guess what it will mean to us, but it will put a very wide variety of CCD and cutting edge CMOS imaging technologies under the one roof - watch this space.

edit: ON already have some interesting CMOS sensors with reasonably sized pixels, including one that provides VGA at 840 fps data rate and a 25mp chip that can run at full resolution at >50fps
