Some clusters and faint galaxies

My favourite open cluster of all time is NGC3532. I first saw it when I was about 13 or 14 back in about 1976 with a Tasco 10K 80mm F15 refractor. It was magnificent. These days I spend too much time at the camera. You know I never even took a peek at this when I photographed it? Shame shame shame. It's just that if I take flats, I can't touch the camera setup in any way, otherwise taking flats would be pointless. Ah well, I will have to have a visual only one night.

SW ED100, Orion 0.8x reducer, Baader UV / IR cut, 60 x 1 minute subs, Pentax K-x.

The bigger sizes at Astrobin are always better.

Next is NGC3114. Took this while waiting for other stuff to come into view. Same scope setup, 38 x 1 minute subs, full spectrum Nikon D70s.

Faint fuzzies next to bright stars fascinate me for some reason. The "bright" star is n Ara magnitude 3.75, the two little galaxies are NGC6215, Mag 12, size 2', the bigger one NGC6221, Mag 11, size 3' 12". 47 x 1 minute, Pentax K-x.

Nice collection, I too have a fascination with the clusters, and they look magical in both pics and through an actual eyepiece.

I absolutely hate bragging, but viewing the jewel box, thru a 10 Delos in my TAK, I thought my retinas would burn out, the stars were so gorgeous and darned sharp! Like sitting in a spaceship nearby.

My next target, when the flipping weather clears, will be the Southern Pleiades.
