G'day iceinspace community!

Just wanted to post a quick introduction as I have finally joined this wonderful forum (which is something I have been meaning to do for a long time).

My name is Zac, and my interest in astrophotography is a relatively recent development. I began shooting nightscapes last year after moving to Stanthorpe, QLD and discovering the dark skies of Girraween National Park. I have been hooked ever since, and now spend a fair bit of time photographing the night sky in many locations and honing my techniques. No telescopes or tracking mounts yet though.

I shoot/process on the following:

Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens': Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 OR Sigma 35mm f/1.4
ISO range: 2000-6400
Postprocessing: LR and PS6 on a 2010 MBP

Hopefully I can contribute meaningfully to the forums and I expect to learn a lot from all of you!

Warmest regards!

I have attached my favourite shot to date below, for more information and a higher resolution version check the 500px link here: http://bit.ly/1jcGxUa

Hi Zac :hi: , Welcome!

That is a ripper of an image! What a great start.

I live in Brisbane and I've heard how cold it gets there in Stanthorpe brrrrrr. It'd be such an excellent area for observing/taking pics. There's a place close by there that I'm really keen to visit one day to do some observing- The Twinstar guest house and observatory where they cater for people with scopes :D.
