Hi all

Went to the official opening of the CWAS AstroFest David Malin awards travelling exhibition at the Sydney Observatory last night.

A selection of about 30 images, from the winners, as well as some honourable mentions, and some others (including one of mine) was chosen to tour the country, going on display at observatories.

The winning images are here:

Met up with Tony Hitchcock (Itchy) and his lovely wife, went and had some dinner and then back to the observatory.

There were some magnificent images on display. The standard was just incredible. Met Dr David Malin (who said he had heard of IceInSpace! :D) , Dr Nick Lomb (from the observatory) and a few others.

Was a good night! Look forward to next years event. It's getting bigger and better each year.

Sounds like you had a fun night. I met David and his wife at the Qld Astrofest in 2003 and they were a lovely couple. David gave an excellent presentation on his images in the Great Hall to a packed audience and this has been my highlight for Astrofest to date.

David and his wife even sat in for the group photo.

Cheers

Dennis
