I wonder who it is... must have been a pretty well off person to afford a scope that size back then, let alone fitted to a car ! Must've cost a small fortune! :eyepop:

yep photoshop can work miracles :lol: the thought has never left my mind, mind you its travelled a very long way, but it has never left my mind!;) :help: An additive to the suby for next year JJJ:D :rofl:

I snaffled the pic from a member of IrishAstronomy.org.
You know I think that it might be a "real piccie" The crank handle to lower the pier, the shadow of the scope under the car. I'll see if I can get some info about who it might be.

I see it has an alt azimuth mount... must've got frustrated trying to precision park for polar alignment!:lol: I wonder how long before the roof became a targa top so you lay down on the back seat to observe near zenith! Hope it had good lens caps... "are they dust bunnies?"... "nah... speed bugs".
