I took this one a while ago. Its a bicolour image (Ha and O111) using the CDK17 at F4.5 and 694 camera.

This object has always fascinated me but its rather dim so I was happy the F4.5 really collected the photons here:

Thanks H. I was happy seeing the original test images that showed more detail than I expected.

That's one of the brightest renditions of the this object I've seen.

Very nice! Well done Greg.

Very nice Thor's helmet Greg. I wonder if you toned down the magenta in the background a bit if it would be even nicer but it's certainly a quality rendition of this object in any form.

Heaps of cool detail there Greg. Colouring is quite nice in my opinion too. Just out of interest do you have one or two subs that have slightly elongated stars. Slight egg going on there but it looks like only one or two subs is causing that.

Must have a go at this myself at some point. Last time I did this I did 21 hours with the RC8 but I think it would look different with the RC12. In any event you have so much more resolution going on there.

Thanks Bo. I was happy at how detail the scope picked up.

That's quite a compliment - thanks Rick.

I had a Subaru once but I didn't use it on this one. Cheers Mike.

Thanks Rod. Yes I did get lot there. F4.5 at 17 inches aperture is a lot of light.

Thanks Steve. I'll have a look at that.

Thanks Paul. This is guide scope guided. I am trying to setup a MMOAG or OAG in this system. The problem with the reducer is it has minimal backfocus - like 44mm. So its looking like a different filter wheel and OAG and then perfectly round stars will be the norm. There may have been a couple of eggy's in there.

I'll check them out in case its just one or two. The 12 inch would be handy for this object. Its a bit low in the west now. I took this a few months ago now.

Thanks Allan. I think the 694 camera is particularly good at narrowband.

Fantastic work Greg, what an amaizing target, so much going on, , Galactic forces in all directions ! That Blue central, looks bit like a cosmic bubble, tho I wonder, as there is many fractures 'so to speak' amongst it ?
A very thought provoking image - Awesome !!

I agree with all the comments - a nice bright image showing lots of good detail! What length subs did you take for this?

Thanks very much for your compliment.

Thanks for that. It does show the forces at work quite clearly.

Thanks David. 10 minutes as I used a guide scope and was limited by that.

Thanks Louie. I am in the process of going through adapter world to attach an OAG to this setup. Its not easy as the Planewave reducer has practically no back focus.

I did some enhancement processing on this image this morning. Star repair and some (I hope) non destructive sharpening/contrast/detail enhancement.

It now has even more detail.

Sorry Greg, I think you have gone too far with the sharpening. Also looks like you used some heavy noise reduction too. Bit plastic for me now. Each to their own though.

You may be right. Its easy to go too far. I've restored to the earlier version.
