In today's APOD (http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140614.html) (14 Jun 2014), Alessandro Merga shows a good shot of the Sagittarius region and the centre of the Milky Way, taken from a 747 in mid-air, during a flight from New York to London.

You need a static link to APOD. The one you put in the thread is for "today" - whenever today is.
