First try at M8. 13 subs from 15 to 120 secs. 800, 1600, 3200.

Thanks Alistair, It's been that long since the weather let me get any
practice that I'd almost forgotten how to use DSS.

Lots of nebula in that Ray. You're getting some good shots now.

Pretty nice Ray. Be careful not to clip that background. :)

Thanks Cam, I don't do any real processing, just the basic adjustments in
DSS, so I don't know what clipping is, or what stretching is, or any other
processing functions for that matter. I don't use separate darks or flats
either; I do sharpen a little in Zoom Browser X. I just can't get my old brain around the black art of processing, so I expect the quality of my
images has almost peaked. I'm happy with how I'm going, which is all
that matters I suppose.

Beautiful Ray. Cam said it, be careful not to clip the background. You've done a really nice job of it.

Thanks for M8 and M20. The first pic was done in a hurry; added some more subs today for the second version; I think it really helped.

Nice one ray.
I know what you mean regarding the weather. Just terrible here :(

Thanks Goran, I'm lucky to get one or two useable nights a month
for about 5 or 6 months of the year. A nice place, but not for astronomy.

I've added a third set of subs to this image. I think it looks a little garish
with the extra blue nebulosity.

The blue may be a touch overdone, but hey, it gives the observer that look of a really deep exposure. I would be very happy with that one.
I'm trying to image M8 and M20 together tonight as I have a wide FOV.
Seeing is not too good and the moon is bright. Oh well, I wont complain at least it is an opportunity to grab a few subs. Too few and far between on a weekend.
Bruce.

Hi Bruce, The blue came with the extra subs; I reduced it's intensity, but
the image started to lose it's illusion of depth, so I restored it. Unfortunately the brief imaging sessions are over for the foreseeable future, as the forecast is awful. Good luck with your efforts.
