It's still hanging on! Presently very close to the Helix Nebula in Aquarius for the next few days if anyone wants to take a widefield shot of them both. Now around magnitude 8.5.
This pic was 91 x 30 second subs at ISO3200, 6" F5 Newtonian, Pentax K-x.

What time of night?

Rises at midnight (roughly) in the east, then visible until dawn. If you find the helix nebula NGC7293, it's just above it by a couple of degrees.

Thanks H. I wish I could suck out more of that tail. It's teasing me.

To see more of the tail , try to convert your data to 32bit b/w and log scale it. Then sum and adjust for contrast.
See what that looks like?
kind regards, Alan Watson.

Mmm, I exclusively post DSS process in photoshop and in 32 bit a lot of my favourite tools are missing. I'll give it a go though. But I think it has to be done at the photographing stage.

It's very noisy but it shows the tail better.
