Hello one single 135 second exposure-ISO-1600-One website put Vis. mag. at 6.32.Comet Jacques C/2014 E2.90mm W/O apo-0.8 reducer- Canon 450D Modded.time taken about 6.36pm.30/5/2013.The Comet is near an open Cluster with nebulosity. Tony

Excellent Tony, you got it paired up with the cone nebula.

I'm not likely to see the comet again this pass due to cloud.

The other object over to the left of the Comet is Hubbles Variable Nebula looks like a Star witha little Fan tail on it. Tony

I missed that until you pointed it out.

I'm jealous that those in the northern hemisphere are going to get the best view as it goes circumpolar.

Another question Comet SOHO P/2008 Y12 is in orion Constellation has anyone viewed it .Starry nights show it at Mag. 5 to 6.

Thanks for the heads up! P/2008 Y12 (SOHO), I don't have a visual yet but going by the orbital elements, it's about 0.5AU, looks like it's climbing fast, higher in the west each night into southern skies. Have to keep an eye on this one!

Comet SOHO, mag 6, is 11.2 degrees below Sirius after sunset tonight and 2 degrees to the left (south of) of gamma Mon.

Looks like the guides for this comet are too generous mag wise. It's much fainter.

This zenith up Guide 9 map shows comet SOHO at 6pm AEST from 5 to 17 June.
On 8 June the comet will be 2 degrees to the right of Sirius.

I looked for comet SOHO with 20x80 binoculars last night (6:15pm) but did not see it, there was too much moon light.

No obs from the comet watch group. It must be very faint.
