Hi all,
Here is my go at M8 from Wednesday night. Started with the colours yesterday, but the weather turned during the last set of light frames, leaving me without any useful blue frames .
12x600s Ha with QSI 683 through a NP101is.
Image acquisition with SGP, data reduction and processing done in PI.
Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!:hi:
Cheers

Thank you Toni. I'am still getting to terms with mono CCD imaging after taking the plunge 6 month ago, but I enjoy it.
Cheers,
Christoph

Some great details in that field. You need to watch out your dynamic range when processing though. It's a bit flat. A repro will make it a truly superb shot.

Hi Marc,
Thanks for your feedback! I just don't quite understand it though. What do you mean with flat? I have attached a screenshot with the histogram open. Should I try and bump the right hand side up a bit? Or clip the highlights a bit more?
Anyway, I just managed to get the last colour two nights ago and will reprocess the whole lot.
Thanks again and have great weekend!
Cheers,
Christoph

M8 is like M42. You might want to mask the hour glass area. The center is much brighter than the outer neb. If you try to show everything at the same luminosity level it looks flat. So you should brighten up the center and dim the outer edges a little.

Hi all,
I finally processed my first ever HaRGB image (and 2nd ever colour image through filters)
Ha:120, 10min subs, RGB:40min each, 4min subs.
I tried to get the centre a bit brighter as per Marc's suggestion.
Comments and tips would be very much appreciated! :newbie:
Have a great start into the new week!
Cheers,
Christoph
