Solar Roadways: Light pollution nightmare?

I think they only absorb light to generate electricity and use a tiny amount to power road lines. Could be interesting.

I saw another article about changing the colour of roads to lighter colours, green, white etc and thereby cut heat absorption. Rpeorts suggest a 6 degree drop in temperatures in cities and the process could be implemented as part of the resurfacing program.

There's another aspect - runoff. In China engineers have adopted a porous road surface which allows water to drain through into the rock below in order to reduce surface runoff and flooding. It has had a huge effect as well by returning water to the soil for trees, lawns and gardens.

It has always struck me as quite stupid that on the driest continent we send runoff down the drain rather than use it.

High time councils started to do this, with solar collection, self illuminating markers and colours that reduce temperature...

Personally, I'd love to rip up most of the asphalt. Horrible stuff; dirt driving is more fun and sure teaches you how to drive!

Its a pipe dream. The costs are staggering to behold. Perhaps useful on a small scale but far too expensive to implement. See below. Might be plausable for drive ways for everyone's homes though.

I love that line Grade seven bullsh1te. Man that is funny. Yep it will never happen. There are too many things going against this. Not sure I would want to drive on something that could become a slippery slide even in wet weather.
