Hi,

Clouds cleared away allowing me to complete my 4 panel mosaic of Scorpius.

Taken with the Canon 1100D and nifty 50 lens at f/4.5, ISO 1600 x 180sec subs x 2 per panel.

Each panel stacked in DSS, stitched with ICE and processed in PS 7.

It's a stunning constellation!:)

Cheers,

Justin.

Nicely done as usual Justin. I was delving into Scorpius last night at considerably greater focal length and had to give up because of the clouds. Ah well.

Thanks Trevor!

The part of this image I spent most time on was the stars, needed to reduce the clutter to bring out the main stars the make up the scorpion.

Thanks Paul!

Thanks Mike!

Thanks Bob!

Yep, love to see some more images from your gear.

Thanks Cam!

I planned this one out using guide 8, it gives the area covered at different F/L. This allowed me to work out the best camera orientation for the panels and final frame.

Thanks Steve!

Look forward to your image, another faint planetary perhaps. :)

Thanks Paul!

I must say, when the skies are clear the seeing and transparency have been good.
Certainly helps with the fine detail.

Thanks Joshua!

Thanks RB!

Justin.

A stunner. I love these types of shots. You did this remarkably well. Your nicest image to date?

A 50mm is a nice lens for this type of imaging. I just received the 2nd highest rated lens on DXOmark and am itching to see how it performs with this type of shot.

Thanks Greg!:)

That means a lot from someone with your experience in wide field mosaics.
The nifty fifty is a good lens, but I need to run it at f/ 4.5 for the best results.
Look forward to images from your new lens.

Cheers,

Justin.

Yes, really nice mosaic Justin; I agree with Greg, it must be one of your best yet!
One small point though - Scorpius not Scorpio ;)
