Who flung Dun... Sunspots from 26 may 2014

well its wasnt a pretty sight but here is the precession of sunspots with 2065 going over the edge and 2075 growing.

its is a White light shot wont bother with details - no one reads this anyway

Oh don't be like that, I read all the Solar posts I just don't comment as they all seem pretty similar but it's interesting to see whats emerging. It's just that the Sun is fairly consistent with only occasional surprises and I don't do any Solar myself.

I really prefer white light as it seems to have finer spot detail and granulation - Ha is certainly bolder. Please give details and keep them coming.

Looks good to me David and you should be happy with the result. There so many pics flying through the forums that comments can get thin but there are plenty of views indicating the levels of interest.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, might be the last shots from the doghouse for a while, have to see how things go over the next few weeks. The light pollution is horrendous and driving me nuts. We are looking for suitable house to call home but nothing fits the mould we want. The usual, no light, yard just enough to maintain yet provide for dome and storage sheds, large bedrooms for the kids and close to brads school for bus route he needs and room to put the cars off the road in the garage, not on a corner block, backyard facing north, no trees, property not drowned out by neighbours higher than you and their lights, and blocking the view, can see celestial south pole, has a horizon down to at least 10-15 degrees in all directions, a flat level block , single story house, doesn’t flood, dome sheltered from street view, and is a cheap price. Don’t want much eh


as for the details - well nothing special as i said - DMK51 through a Baader solar wedge and the 127ed, which to rub in salt to the wounds the motor focuser broke on the moonlite wont operate at all so manually focused. captured with IC capture and stacked in Autostakkert2, tarted up in PS. might do a repro see if i can make a difference as i didnt have registax on hand at work

I feel your pain with regards to light pollution. My home has a decent backyard, but, the streetlight shines straight through. It actually shines in to the bedroom as well. Might hit up the council about it. The view to the south is blocked by palms, and east is also blocked by trees. Have to wait until objects are well high enough before imaging. I guess that's not such a bad thing.

I take it a QHY5 is no good for this kind of imaging?

Excuse my skepticism H, but I have live in the Maroochy Shire/Sunshine Coast Regional Council nearly all my life.

I wish you a LOT of luck. Everyone before you has tried, and failed. Seems more people complain about streetlights here in SunVegas, the more they put up. They damned well don't seem to spend our rates money on anything else :( :MAD:

They just wasted $80,000 on a new logo for the council. A three year old could have done a better job.
