Photographers! It's time to submit your images for the IceInSpace Astronomy Calendar Competition! You've got until the 15th June to get your images in - then they'll be shortlisted and the winning entries will be chosen by the IceInSpace Community!

Each photographer can submit up to 6 images. Keep them rolling in!

On May 14th, Australia and NZ experienced a reasonably rare astronomical event, with Saturn being 'occulted' (going behind) the Moon.
It was the second of three occultation events this year of Saturn for Australia, with the next one due on the 4th of August. It's been over 10 years since Australia saw an occultation of Saturn by the Moon, so, why so many this year after so long? It's all nicely explained in the ABC link here: http://ab.co/1iFjvE1
Alex Cherney captured this fantastic video of the ingress (heading behind) and egress (coming out from behind) of the event.

A bit of a blast from the past, but an old thread was resurrected recently as people continue to vote in the poll or add their thoughts in the thread. So I thought I'd throw the net a bit wider.
How do you plan your observing sessions? Randomly from object to object, or using a tour mode of your GOTO scope, or using planning software, or something else?
