Hello all,
I managed to grab a few more subs before the clouds on Friday and then re processed my stuff - after reading the DSLR thread on IIS I stacked in DSS using super pixel (no interpolation).
I have now got my light box (thanks Exsfo!) and I did a series using the APT flat scheme (AV setting etc)- made things much worse. I know I don't have much dust in the imaging chain (new scope/ recently professionally cleaned sensor) but even so I think I need to spend more time to address the flats, pukey kid sort of curtailed that tonight.
So this is with slightly more data and you can still see the ?reflection on it but what the heck, I watched a Star Trek Movie last night so I am just assuming it's a photon torpedo heading towards the galaxy!

GSO RC 10 - no frills as yet (except carbon fibre tube)- GSO shonky focuser and out of the box collimation.
Riding on a PMX.
Canon 5 D mark II.
Guided by a Lodestar in a modified finder scope.
4 hours and 47 mins of 5 minute lights -mostly at ISO 1600, some few earlier ones were ISO 800.
Stacked calibrated darks only in DSS, no dcraw conversion before, tried the link, couldn't get it to work.

NGC 5247 is a mag 10.5 face on grand design spiral galaxy in Virgo, some 60 million light years away.
According to Chadwick and Cooper (imaging the Southern Sky) getting the third arm is a sign of good seeing/transparency. Which amazes me as the skies down here are recently of bad soup quality. So never underestimate the Canon 5 D I suppose.
Pics are of the set up , the area around the galaxy and the galaxy being shot by a photon torpedo!!:lol:
