Baader AstroSolar film

Hi team,

Does anyone know where I can buy the ND3.8 Baader AstroSolar film from to make my own filter for photographic use?

I note that you can buy the ND5 in the small or large sizes. But, I can only find the ND3.8 in the large size. It's about $117.

Is it possible to buy the smaller size, or, must I fork $117? If that's the case, it's cheaper to buy a pre-made filter using the same film.

If anyone has any that they're no longer using and are happy to sell to me, I'm all ears!

Astro Pete's (http://www.astropetes.com.au/index.html) used to sell 30cm x 30cm squares of ND3.8 cut at time of purchase from the larger sheet. He cut one for me.

He may still do it - I can't presently see it on his site, but you should ask him.

Yes, that's the big sheets. I was after the smaller size which is about a third of the price. I can't seem to find it locally.

Whoops – should have read your post more carefully. I have seen the Visual 5.0 sheets sold in A4 sizes, but the 3.8 Photo sheets have always been listed as 100cm x 50cms?:shrug:

Just thought I'd clarify something: it was 25cm x 25cm, which makes more sense, since that fits more neatly into 100cm x 50cm.

Gary, thank you for the kind offer! I'll try Astro Pete first before hassling you. How long ago was it that I bought your Losmandy encoders? They're yet to be installed on the mount, lol. Maybe a task for this weekend!
