how would it go gluing the top piece of foam into the lid?

That should be possible, Ving.

The only thing you need to watch is the size and placement of the foam, and perhaps shape the edge closest to the hinge. That's just because of the way the lid closes onto the box (It is hinged below the top of the box, and the opening in the top of the box is a bit smaller than the lid, due to the folds they've put in to stiffen it.

If you use really soft foam you might be able to simply squash it closed.

I'm sure that if you are that way inclined, these are not problems that are insurmountable!:thumbsup:

Nice article, Al. I did something very similar. (I reckon they charge too much for the box they offer with the PST.)

I use a rectangular piece of stiff foam with a slit half way up and a hole in the middle to slide over the OTA to act as a shield to keep my eyes in shadow. I think I will cut this so it fits into the top of the tool box.

Good idea, Brian. I might have a play with doing something similar with the soft foam in top of my box. It should still work as long as it isn't too windy!:thumbsup:

I've just had a look at the article and there appears to be an inconsistency in the size of the toolbox. In some places it is listed as 455mm x 200mm x 165mm and in others it is listed as 455mm x 120mm x 165mm (which I believe is incorrect).

Just thought I'd mention it as it could be a bit confusing.

You are absolutely right. My lydexia must've been playing up when I wrote the materials required. The toolbox should be 455 x 200.
