Dso imaging setup help

hi guys. A friend has invited me to stay at his farm at Nyngan for a week. I would like to buy a telescope for dso imaging but unsure which to buy. I currently have a c14 and a losmandy g11 mount. But i dont want to take the c14. I have not done any dso imaging before only planet imaging. My budget is around $1000. I really want to image nebulas and galaxies.

Assuming you already have a camera and will be using the G11 but leaving the C14 at home, a good OTA might be an ED80, ED100, an 8" or 10" imaging Newtonian and coma corrector etc.

do i need an autoguider if im using a small 80mm refractor?

From a dark sky site where exposures can be longer, auto guiding would help but not essential.

An 80mm would be okay for nebula but a bit short focal length wise for all but the largest galaxies. Your C14 would be a galaxy killer.

Other items you may need for a refractor are a field flattener and dew heater for the lens, to keep in mind with a tight budget.

think ill go with a dob and just enjoy the dark skies experience.
