Hello everyone, I just posted a picture of the central part of the Large Magellanic Cloud including the Tarantula Nebula (NGC2070 or 30 Doradus ) in addition to several other items. The link:

Tarantula Nebula and her neighborhood (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Galaxies/i-7cBstFL/A)

The Tarantula Nebula has an incredible diameter of about 1,000 light years and is the largest and most complex region of star formation in our entire local group. If it were placed at the distance of the Orion Nebula (1,500 light years ) it would have an apparent diameter of about 30 degrees! Exciting and unforgettable visually, it is definitely one pf the most popular targets down under, so here I go with my contribution :)
This area is very rich of objects, I will prepare a detailed map if I find some time, the most prominent objects in my framing beside NGC2070 are the two nebulae with significant contribution of OIII in the upper right corner, i.e. the group of NGC1966 and, closer to the edge, DEM L174 with NGC1949.

This image combines LRGB and Narrowband (Ha+OIII) data for a total of nearly 20 hours of exposures.

As usual, highly recommended the full res view, the most spectacular to appreciate the finer details this incredibly rich field ..

I never until now realised there was so much nebulosity in that region. Fantastic!

A very nice Tarantula. Has nice natural feel to it. You've handled the Ha blend very nicely which is easily overdone so it does not overwhelm the image with a sea of red. You have a nice balance of colours there.

Processing is top notch - subtle, natural.

Greg.

Thanks Justin!

Happy you liked it Mike :) I am also quite happy with the result, definitely this area is very intriguing!

Thanks Andrew

Mine too ;) Thanks Alex

Thanks Barry, in fact the whole region is full of HII areas, quinte amzing, isn't it?

Thanks Louie

Thanks Greg, keeping the Ha (and OIII) balanced in the image without overdoing it was a main target, I had to spend some time to find the right (at least to me) mix on Ha and LRGB but eventually found a good compromise..

Thanks Marc!

I have also uploaded a version with labels, took a while but now the main objects recorded are labeled. Here is the link:
