The things I do when the moons out.

I started out wanting make the most of clear skies even with moon in the way.

My plan was to see what's around the major stars in crux but the moon interfered too much with decent exposures.
So I decided to make a montage of the stars and jewel box in the shape of crux.:D

I know ---- I'm :screwy:

Yes they are all the correct stars.

8” F/4 astrograph , baader type coma corrector, HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D. Cooler box.

5 x 2 minute subs ISO 400 per image . Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop 7 .

Cheers,

Justin.

That's got be be one of the nicest Southern Cross I've seen. How many panels?

You know you have to do ALL the constellations now. :D Something to do on a moon lit night.

Yeah Scorpio would be nice. Do you take requests? :D You must do Orion! Might have to wait until it comes around again though.

Very nice work, Justin. Jewel Box is very clear and the color of stars are very beautiful. Congratulations.
note: inside Crux there are at least two interesting objects, too. This constellation is very impressive. I like explore it. Gama-Crux, for example, has a close little blue star that always call my attention.

Remember that this image is stitched together from my 8" f/4, so it gives a false sense of resolution.
