I visited my gun shop mate yesterday (we are business associates). I grabbed a full set of Ridgeline gear - beenie, jacket, shirt, pants, socks. WELL worth it, exceptionally warm, and cost is $90 for the complete set.
Drove past the Duckadang turnoff on the way up which reminded me to get them :)

Trevor I received the catalogue in the mailbox yesterday. I was actually looking at the INOC range (pants and top). I wonder how they compare to other brands? Certainly cheaper than Kathmandu!

You did well, did not notice that much of that line in Allen's shop, when I picked up my new .270 the other day.I did not think Allen had a '
business associate' after the last episode he had.
The Aldi gear looks great, and good prices too,Aldi gear is generally very good,I sure hope we get some in the Kingaroy store-those thermal underwear for $30 will be a great help at astrofest

I recommend a freezer suit from Geoff. I have used mine for around 5 years and it still looks like it did when I bought it. Warm as toast inside too....
Good value I say....

Ah, the Barefoot Bandit... Brian is a LONG, tiresome story. I had known Allan about 2 years before the "Incident" that started that cascade of poop.
Allan and I work together - we are nearly always together at shows, I see him every second Sunday on average. I do most of his international ordering ,sourcing and importation of extraneous, non-dealer items.
The Ridgeline stuff is REALLY good. Not ski gear, but not as bulky either.
Gawd, me in a freezer suit.... I'd look like the Michelin Man after an all you can eat smorgasbord...

I likely see Allen again soon,to do some transfer details-I've just won first prize in a photo comp-a Savage .223 with scope. (sorry Lewis cannot post image here-you will have to buy July issue 'Sporting Shooter' to see)
I am very keen to buy a pair of those mens thermo boots from Aldi,at thatr price they are well worth it,nothing worse than the cold coming up through your feet at night, might have to travel to find an Aldi that has them-but be worth it.

Speaking as an ex UK observer, layer, layer and layer again. Thermals, trousers and something windproof over the top works. Beanie or something else over the ears will be invaluable.

Another +1 on the freezer suit. Mine stays in my car all the time now, even if you dont use it it's really good for wrapping delicate gear and as a pillow.

A big plus for the freezer suits too!
Mr Frost down here in Tassie does not get a look in, even on the nights well below zero.

Will need some proper boots along the lines of those Aldi ones,I just got back from Kingaroy now-the council has put me on full time as a dingo trapper-so will be flat out from now-you could call in here 2 moz or Thur, not far from top off range.I'll be camping out with the dingoes full time next week-some warm booties would be good.
Size 12 would be good.

Hilarious this morning at Aldi, it was more like that game you played in the 70s and 80s, "how many people can you fit in a Mini". Everyone was piled on top of each other, absolute chaos.

Yes, yes it was lol. But, it was quiet and no one was shoving or pushing. I called it the quiet riot. Because people where just rummaging around and making a huge mess. I did however find the neoprene face mask and touch screen enabled gloves. Went well actually.

You're right Adrian, it was very polite chaos
Picked up the silk balaclava, some thermoboots and a pair of ski pants. All ready now for the SPSP and the coming winter at Wiruna.

temperatures at Ilford not predicted to get below about 7 degrees, so the Aldi gear should cope with that i would think

+ 1 for the Freezer suit, anything else is second best. I used mine down to freezing point @ Duckadang, warm as toast. I bought mine back in the 90's (last century...:P) for flying in powered hang gliders. Freezer suits are also quite a bit tougher than ski gear.

For the star party, yes, balmy almost.
They might not do long temps at minus 20 like your stuff, but i doubt i would want to be out at minus 20 anyway. For June, July and August at wiruna, it usually goes sub zero by few degrees, so for $40 they look like and feel like they will do the job fine. My usual problem is cold feet, literally, and the boots seem up to it.

Yes Trev - warm feet are important - even with a freezer suit

Just got a couple of 'heat machine' insulated thermal socks delivered from the UK. 2.3 TOG rating - feels like a hot water bottle in your boots. I hate cold feet when observing!
