This is a work in progress
20 x 5 minutes for each of R, G, B and L. Luminence is unbinned while RGB is binned x2.
Taken from Coona last week. PW CDK 12.5 and STX16803.
There is an overall red cast that I need to deal with - perhaps more data or more PI skills.
Comments welcome

That's a nice photo Peter. Impressed that the central region isn't 'blown out' and so there is some detail there.
Well done.

The galaxy and stars look excellent. As far as the red cast is concerned it looks like something went wrong with the flats. I guess basic calibration is always worth checking first anyway.

Looks good, Pete! A colour cast is easy to deal with in PI.

Fine image Pete - plenty of detail and contrast.

Yeah Pete pretty obvious that's a potentially killer image of this galaxy. Remove those red-green gradients and the readout artifacts (?) and perhaps add a bit more exposure...and pow! a corker
Must be great logging on and controlling your own rig...at the AAO :eyepop: :prey2:

Thanks Trevor
In the past I have always been disappointed by the detail of my images from Sydney and was always pushing the stretch to get as much out of the data as possible. With my new set up, I need to throttle back a bit to get the finer detail.
Thanks Steve - I think its inconsistent data rather than dodgy flats. The sky was soupy on one of the nights I imaged this so each of the R, G and B subs have different gradients. There is still limited data - doubling the RGB exposures will hopefully clean it up.
Cheers Rick - I need to go back to the PI tutorials and practice.
Thanks
Its pretty cool to be imaging from Coona. The feed from the Boltwood at the iTelescope facility has the dome in the background. At least they are also suffering with the lousy weather. Its been pretty ordinary of late - of course because I have my set up humming now:thumbsup:
I have to find the time to hone my processing skills. I suspect I have some issues with applying bias frames to my images in PI - there are invariably dark lines that extend up from the bottom of my images - about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way along the bottom. Are these the readout artifacts you are referring to?

Looks great Pete, one of my fav galaxies but it shows rotated 180 in your original post, not sure why.
Cheers
Alistair
