We had a great trip to the Mundrabilla strewn field in April.

Camping on the Nullarbor is a magnificent experience.
The dark skies are arguably the darkest anywhere.

I went in as a 49 year old and came out a 50 year old.
This was my birthday wish.

Basic directions to the monument are, S 30 46.468 E 127 31.895 or
from the Eyre hwy at Eucla drive north to Forrest.110k
This will take all day. Forrest has a meteorological museum well worth visiting and info on the desert fireball network which has an operating camera at Forrest.

From Forrest drive West to Mundrabilla siding. This will take several hours.

From Mundrabilla siding on the Northern side of Trans Aust line drive West 5.5k till you see a dirt road heading North. Its the only one.

Take this road North for an hour or more till you come up to the Mundrabilla Monument.

As it will take you two days from the highway up into the strewn field you will need to be quite prepared.
Tyres would be a major consideration. Thousands of sharp pointy rocks on the road.

April temps were very nice.

For legal reasons we had to leave the meteorites we found where we found them, all 27 of them.
If anyone has a better interpretation of the law please comment.

Must have been a great trip Brett.

Well done on finding a few travellers of space.

Seems a shame you can't keep them. Not really like there are a huge amount of people out there that would be ticked off to find a few rocks missing out in the middle of nowhere.

Wouldn't be possible to donate them to the local museum?

That was way Cool Brett:cool:
When reading your post I was wondering whether you saw a train
then watched the video. :)
Thanks for posting.
I would love to go out that far.
Cheers:thumbsup:

That would be a very nice trip, even without the metoerites. The open space and the quiet would be awesome. I gather you went out with only one vehicle? It looks like the track is OK but there is still the isolation in case of breakdown.
