Hi,
Been playing with image of Alpha Crucis for while trying to clean up the right hand side of the image.
The camera was slightly tilted making the stars on the right a bit blobby.
Never done deliberate long exposures around bright stars, quite interesting to see what's there.
8” F/4 astrograph , baader type coma corrector, HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D. Cooler box.
7 x 8 minute subs ISO 800 . Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop 7 .
Cheers,
Justin.

That's a bit WOW Justin, to get the companion so clear. It's not like the seperation is huge. Nice photo.

Its a nice picture. But that is not the companion star Acrux A/B. its actually another binary star 90 light years behind Acrux.

Agree with the other guys- pretty star in a pretty part of the sky. In fact we don't get enough shots of just stars on the forum do we?

No, but they are very amasing. Binary system needs clear sky and good barlow. The resolution is very important. But the photos haven't visual impact.
I love them. Despite its difficulties. And I need a Televue barlow to continue my work.

Looks great Justin. The dark neb is part of the Coalsack is it?
I also like to image cool and weird things next to bright stars.
