I am not a bookphile, but I thought this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Celestial-Objects-for-common-telescopes-The-Rev-T-W-Webb-Rare-Astronomy-1859-/171276002495?pt=AU_Antiquarian_Coll ectable_Books&hash=item27e0d864bf&_uhb=1) rated a mention, price alone.

Yes, I guessed so. Seems almost sacriligious putting it on ebay. I imagine a quiet dusty dimly lit store, with wood shelves, exposed beams and flaking paint, with intellectual types quietly musing over volumes from antiquity. Perhaps, I'm living in a bygone era.

Hmmmmm
Nothing like the smell of old books in the morning..... ;-)

$15K - tell him he is dreaming.

Interesting that you get these stupid prices for things on ebay. Check the classic bike listings - some bikes are being reserved at three times their real worth. There cannot be that many "wood ducks" around!

I have no idea what a book like this is worth. But I guess a little research might help.

It's worth what a buyer is prepared to pay!

(later 1910 editions are usually available - at reasonable prices...)

Ah thanks Ken, I'm $30 up on the deal  I picked mine up for $5 at a bookshop in a little country town about 20 years ago.

Nice. And if that was mine, no offer in the world would make me to part with it.

Thinking of selling my newest version of Hartungs as it's just gathering dust on the bookshelf. I might keep the first edition though.

Regarding the opening post, I presume that is the same Webb as in the Webb Society?
