Had my first real 2 hour session lastnight :) When I decided to call it day and lugged everything back inside, I noticed a fair bit of condensation on the Dob and on my eyepieces etc..

Whats the proper way to deal with that? I am guessing just packing away my gear while damp is a no no.

Do I just sit it everything on my kitchen bench to warm up and dry out before putting it all away? or load up the carry case with decassant (Spelling??) and leave it be?

thanks

Joe

I've always just left the stuff in an unheated room (where there is no warm air and dust being blown around), and let it dry slowly. It takes an hour or two.

I put all in boxes and close them before I go inside, I leave all optics in the boxes un-capped.
Next day all is slowly aclimatized without condesation, I open the boxes and cap all eyepieces, optics.
I have silicagel packs in all boxes containing optics.
Larger optics I pack in a rubbish bag before taking them inside and open bag after several hours or next day.
