Cometary Globule CG12 & NGC 5367

Cometary Globule 12 is a lovely mass star forming region associated with the young cluster and reflection nebula NGC 5367. It is located in the constellation of Centaurus so it is an object pretty high in the sky these months:

The star field in this area is extremely rich that makes not so easy to get the dust and nebulae standing out without having the back ground stars becoming too invasive. I tried different versions and eventually opted for this one, hopefully a good compromise between stars and nebula keeping the overall look as natural as possible, always my ultimate goal.

Nice one Marco. I was contemplating doing this one myself recently but got preoccupied with other stuff. It's an object that deserves to be better known.

Thanks to all for the appreciation, this is a lovely object not so often imaged but it requires lots of exposure and dark skies to get out nicely..



It is just a bit less than 2 degrees per side. If you download my full res image you can get it precisely, my imaging scale is 1.83"/px ;)

Thanks Marco, my setup is 0.87"/px so a closeup of the globule head would be an interesting project for me. I'll definitely keep this target in mind :)
