Hey Guys,
Wanting to put some Velcro around my mount(EQ8) so I can clip on the slowly accumulating controllers I now have (Robofocus, Kendrick Digifire 10, USB Hub)
I was just wanting to get an opinion on what the best type to stick to the mount would be. I used some that came with the Digifire and while I'll admit I did not apply it in the driest of circumstances, it did not last long (Fell off after one session).
My basic plan is to put a thick strip of the softer side around my mount so I can place the controllers where ever I need.
Thanks

:) New mounts have a silicon type protectant on them and its very hard to remove , I found that 'Universal paint thinners' works , be careful this type is for 2 pak paints and is very potent .
Any paint supplier will sell you 100 Ml if you ask , use it outside and clean the area a few times and the valcro will stick .

An alternative to sticking it on would be to purchase a roll of wide stuff, say 1 inch wide or wider if possible, and just wrap it around tightly, so it sticks to itself?
Two parallel strips can make up for a single wider strip.
My personal experience is that the 3M product has always outlasted any of the generic brands that I have purchased from hardware stores. The 3M product has never delaminated, lost its holding capacity or come unstuck, whereas others have failed prematurely in one of these aspects.
Cheers

Office Works sell rolls of extra heavy duty sticky Velcro. It costs about $17 for a roll about 900mm x25mm and this stuff sticks unbelievably well.
I have it holding alsorts of stuff in the observatory and it has not budged one bit. Be warned it is very hard to get back off.
Cheers

3M Dual Lock. Its expensive, but the adhesive works long term (not like some velcros where the adhesive goes soft) and it grips. I use it to fasten cameras to my helmets and bikes on road or off, as well as headlight protectors, etc. When you try it, you'll realise its in a class of its own compared to velcro.
