Gday some pics of the area around Cape Naturaliste in the south-west of WA.Taken late in the afternoon the pics dont do justice to how big the swell was hitting the coast :) Its a top place for hiking { and surfing }

Very nice, Beren!:thumbsup:

Having grown up on the coast but now living inland I do like the shots of the ocean and surf. Nothing beats being there in person, but I think the first shot gives me a pretty good idea of the size of the swell! The whitewater starts a long way out and there's something about the water colour behind that... I think that shade of blue is called "treachery"...

I bet you can feel it through the rocks, each time a wave hits them.
Great pics.

Cheers :thumbsup:

Some more pics of the SW coast of WA taken during free time {:P wish i had my surfboard} while working in the area. I was hoping to get some widefield ocean/nightsky shots but the weather has been very unforgiving . The lighthouse is located on Cape Leeuwin , Australias mainlands most south-westerly point and the meeting place of the Indian and Southern oceans.Interesting contrast on either side of the cape with the more sheltered waters of Flinders bay near the township of Augusta and the wild and stormy oceanscape the other side :) .The panorama pic contains a memorial to Capt Matthew Flinders whose ship the HMS Investigator on 6th Dec 1801 sighted Cape Leeuwin and thus started his epic mapping survey of Australias coastline :)

Stunning shots Stuart! I love the 3rd one in the first lot, and the 4th and 6th in the 2nd lot.

Nice to see someone who suffers from horizonus unstraightus as well ;)

Very nice compositions.

LOL the horizonus unstraightus was a sympton of the fronts coming through and all the sea spray around :P in that 4th shot second row a second after i pressed the shutter i got hit by a wave and got soaked knees down with jeans on and nearly fell over with camera in hand and a audience to witness the folly:D

Stuart, The shots of Cape Leeuwin bring back fond memories of many years ago.
