This is my first go at Eta Carina through a telescope (as opposed to previous effort using telephoto lens.)
Managed to keep colour in the image through the stacking phase in DSS. Still too noisy (used in-camera dark-frame subtraction rather than separate darks).
7 x 35 second subs @ 2200 ISO using unmodded Pentax K5 DSLR/North Group ED102 unguided.

That's a really good first telescope image Pete.

Good work! Don't be afraid to reduce the ISO too - more subs (and less amplification noise) will easily balance out the darker images.

Thanks - not first overall through the scope just first attempt at Eta Carina.
I've attempted I think 4 other DS objects with varying degrees of success.
Yeah - because I don't have any guide capability (& manual guiding is not really an option because my old mount doesn't have a dec motor) I'm a bit shy of going to longer subs. Maybe I could try some at 1 minute at a lower ISO & see how it goes with some proper darks.
Cheers,
Pete

Just use more subs, rather than longer ones - you'll need lots but it'll work.
nebulosity.

I like this, a fair bit better than my first telescope try at Carina.
