View Full Version here: : The things one has to put up with. LOL
Hi Guys
Just thought I would let my friends on IIS know we are on the move again and presently crossing the Nullabour, love it. :)
But just look at what we have to put up with when free camping :P
Found this spot yesterday along the Bight, down a dirt track, not bad for a couple of free nights. :D :D one would pay many dollars for a view like that
That is us peached hight on the Cliff face

Leon,
It would make it pretty hard to get a line in.
Best to you both.
Greg.
P.S. You are not missing much at home, it's cold and wet ATM (21mm rain here yesterday) .

Yep that's gotta be hard to take.Great set up by the way.
Leon, take a torch with you at night when you visit the "loo".
:scared: :P
Thanks guys, It certainly was a beautiful spot, :) but we had to move on, however we will probably go there again if we ever come back this way.
Your spot on RB, it was pitch black out there, and one would be fool hardy to venture to far with out a torch.

My most memorable moment of the entire relocation from QLD to WA with the wife was this very spot. I have some photos of her SOMEWHERE on an external HDD with her long red hair VERTICAL in the updrafts.
When we relocated back to QLD, we opted to fly - kind of regret it, but 4 days on the road (would have taken longer on the return - no rush this time) with a 1 year old and a cat would not be memorable
Good one Lewis, yes, that updraft certainly had some force behind it, and I'm sure you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Here are a few more pics, nothing fancy but just some of the places and things we did so far.
1 some very wide loads come your way at times, two prime movers pulling this one.
2 A Sunset along the way.
3 A visit to Iron Knob, although everything was closed and deserted
4 Setting up the home made OZ pig for the night.

Man, life's tough. How did you stand the crowds?
I notice there is not a tree in sight. After a couple of days there your dog must have been fair busting. :D
I like your 'steam engine'. How much work is involved in setting up and pulling down? I imagine you have a separate storage spot so the soot doesn't get through everything else.
I've written this in green because green is the colour of ....

Nice pics Leon, reminds me of growing up in the bush in outback NT. I want to return for a long road trip similar to yourself however my wife is a city girl and doesn't like the dirt.
Thanks for your comments guys,
David the pig has its own storage and can get as dirty as it likes, works a treat and is packed away in a few minutes.
As for the dog, well he pees on and little bush, he doesn't need a tree, he is only 10 inches tall LOL.

Looks like you're having a great time, Leon. But how are you getting internet access all the way out there?
Internet access has surprised me as much as it has you.
Although not all the time, we have had service of a pretty high nature I might add. :) and that was just camped in free camps along the highway, in the middle of the Nullabour, beats me, but where happy with it.
We are with Telstra, and use a WiFi 4G hot spot.

God I hope you've got a big scope in there. Fantastic photos. We head off in July from Brisbane to Adelaide to Darwin then home. 5 weeks. Should be great. Not retired yet :(
Yea Mark it is great, we have been very fortunate to experience all these wonderful sights, hope you too enjoy your trip, 5 weeks is not that long to cover all those kilometers though.

I'd say on the contrary - that would have been memorable, albeit not enjoyable. :D

Very nice Leon.:)
The "No Tree Plain".:D
Hey David. :) A woman many years ago was driving on the Plain. One small tree was in sight. No other trees any where to be seen.
You may have guessed where this was leading: Yes she drove the car straight into it. Taking out maybe the only tree that grew on the Plain.
Obviously well focused. She was not an astronomer.:)

Ah well, then there is the other story (or is that legend) about a small dog on the Nullabour Plain .... but perhaps it's best if I don't repeat it in front of the owner of a 10" dog.
Go for it David I don't know that story, but I have heard the one about the "Blonde Nymph", that dashes out into the headlights of on coming cars and disappears into the bush, only dressed in minimal attire :eyepop:
It is only legend, but there are some that feel there are some enthusiastic young girls keeping the legion alive. ;) apparently the last vision of this was in Balladonia in 2007.
Leon
