Have noticed in the up coming events on the calender, regarding the meteor showers (Piscis Austrinids & Southern Delta-Aquarids), the initialism "ZHR".
So I am curious as to what this means, particulary in reference to peak?

Cheers :drink:

ps have seen a few meteors tonite already :D

Hi Wayne. ZHR relates to the Zenith Hourly Rate, (zenith being, the point directly above you no matter where you are), or what is predicted for any particular meteor shower, going on the previous years shower rates. There can be more or less meteors than predicted. Best bet is just to get out there & watch. Better than the box or X-box.
HTH...:D..L.
ps. This from Astronomy 2006, > "ZHR, A general guide to the expected intensity of any given meteor shower. It is a theoretical rate, assuming the radiant is at zenith with a sky limiting magnitude of 6.5". :D
