Lunch time today-1226 pm (EST)
-lasts about an hour...was planning to duck out at lunch with the binos but clouds and more clouds here in sydney:(
anyone else have better luck?

Got the same problem here, lots of clouds, looks like you guys are going to get that in two days. Some rain in the clouds, but looking very murky.
So it looks like I won't be able to see the occultation either.

Cleared up here now am getting a good view with 11x80binos .
Have taken some pics with a d7 will post .
Not able to use my ToU cam as the wife has the lap top at work Bugger!

Clouds here in Sydney, plus I forgot, so I didn't bring my binos to work with me :*(
A shame too, cause I already had the tripod and camera in the car from the moon/venus/jupiter triangle this morning! :(

This is what i was only able to do with a 200mm lelphoto lens on the minolta D7 .
Good view with the Bino's though.

These were cropped from the original and gamma corrected to try to increase contrast.

Just when occulation ocurred a cloud obscured my view .

Very cool event, nice photos mhodson, I didn't see the reappearance due to cloud but I also got some photos. hard work with the big dob, heat and daylight. This is close to disappearance.

Oh yes sorry, 12" f/5 Dob Afocal 40mm Ep to Nikon Coolpix 4500.
First photo 12:21, 1/1000sec f/5.1 auto ISO and the second 13:11, 1/1000sec f/4 auto ISO.
