Hi all,
Does anyone have a spare SW-680 Base (8" f6 Skywatcher Dobsonian) That they would like to get rid of?
for an idea on what they look like >>> http://www.myastroshop.com.au/products/details.asp?id=MAS-064
I am getting a SW680 OTA only which comes with the Alt bearings and would like the dob base as a backup incase the EQ mount it will be going on packs up or need repair. Looking at spending no more than $100 for cost of base plus postage to Adelaide. Or if someone has plans for them they would be just as good.
Thanks..

Andrew, just found this link (http://www.geckooptical.com/cgi-bin/gecko/index.cgi?catid=2&subcatid=8&adid=1113), a SW 10 inch dob base, would probably be close enough for your OTA and around the right price. I notice the price is ONO so there may be some room fro negotiation.

well..i checked it out..its all good..the handles that are also the tension thingy's are missing some ball baerings..but still seems to work fine..i never modified the base so it is a little stiff ..but there are heaps of threads explaining how to fix this...it seems to be a problem with all dob bases that they are a little stiff...anyway..let me know what ya wanna do..it looks exactly the same as the one in the link accropolite left for you..
cheers
