With other IIS members submitting great Eagle Nebula shots, I thought Id re-do a deep imaging session I did on it 2 months back.
The original image was 7x5 mins @iso 800, 10 inch F5.6 scope hand guided. Modded 350D DSLR with UHCS, and UV/IR filter, MPCC.I used Photoshop set gray point to neutralise the strong red colouring I got so as to allow subtle changes in hure to appear, then enhanced saturation to bring that out, while keeping levels quite low. Now I can see the areas where hydrogen emission (red) is prominent, and others where oxygen is prominent greenish blue.

The 2nd image is a deep version of the same original masked with a shallower version to preserve inner detail and also outer faint regions.

Hi Scott

Both are very nice but the 1st one in particular is stunning. Great capture. Hmm, must get myself a colour filter wheel one day.

Cheers

I agree it's upside down! The way you've displayed it, it should be called the stalactite's of creation. :D

Nice one Scott.
You must have really dropped the red channel to get that.

Cheers

Howdy all
Thanks, I did drop down the red channel a fair bit to allow the other colours to come through, as the red tends to overwhelm everything else when using the UHCS filter and modified camera.
