No, there's nothing rude, crude nor vulgar about the post it's just that I suspect I'll be pigeonholed as a male chauvanist pig by certain members of this auspicious community.

I had to make a trip to my local supermarket (aka corner store) this morn and, whilst waiting for the proprietor to finish his 'phone, call noticed a rather neat looking set of cased barbeque tools. This was quite obviously designed for picnics and their ilk. I don't go on BBQ type picnics but our old (perhaps 'venerable' might be a better description) tools are becoming somewhat tatty.

In view of the fact that I've had to fork (sorry!) out a bit of dosh this week I thought I'd purchase the set as a surprise gift for my ever lovin' wife. The case? Ah, well, if you haven't worked out that one yet . . .

All right, so it's not really ATM in the proper sense - so what? Inventiveness is what keeps us going . . . right?

She will be home in about four hours time so I'd best go and steep my face in vinegar, just in case.

My wife is thrilled with the new tools (even though she won't use them; after all that's a blokey job) and I have her blessing to convert the box into an EP case.

Incidentally, foam is out for this project. I'm going to use bubble wrap instead. There is method in the madness, honestly. When I'm waiting for clouds to clear or simply bored I can waste/fill in time popping the little air cells. I am reliably informed that this is also good for deterring mosquitos (Culicidae to you) and other annoying beasties trying to spoil my observing time.

Should you mean the size of such an eyepiece (I've never seen one) then a little judicious panel beating should overcome that problem. Perhaps not; I could, though, steal my granddaughter's lunch box?

There you go, Petra. An hour or so work after my evening meal (including finding the foam and so on). It's a bit rough around the edges but nothing rattles, bangs or squeaks.

OK, I don't have too many eyepieces to cart around but there's room for a couple more 1.25s if need be. :)

I like ya method too. Give the missus something she'll give you (the Barbie tools) and you get the case. That's a win/win situation if ever I heard of one. One sided win/win, but still a win anyway :lol:
