Almost full moon last night and rare clear skies in Melbourne, so thought it a good time to play with the Orion Steadypix eyepiece/camera holder and my 12 inch scope.

Considering the high mags (150 times thru a 10mm Delos eyepiece) and NO TRACKING, the images came up reasonably sharp. I used ISO200 and 1/3200th of a second. The moon moves fast at these magnifications!

Pity about the low resolution, I don't know why it's so low when I was using a 1080p camera (Panasonic lumix LX7)? Registax spat the images out in very small jpeg sizes.

Ok, I've sort of worked out what was going on with the resolution - my Sony Vegas software that I"m using to convert the .mp4 to AVI was using too low a resolution. This rework is about 8 times the file size of the first post. Fixed that. These images are moving so much in the eyepiece, I"m amazed any image emerges!

Can't wait to see ppl's eclipse pics. Too cluttered this way....
