Had a lady ring me up,and want me to take a look at a telescope she needs to sell, she lives not far from me,I promptly forgot to have a look, but will go and have a look-as she rang again this morn.

Apparently,its a Meade 10 inch LX 200 a 93 model,has wedge,she says its a WQ mount,but then says she has the wedge.So make me think its Alt-Az.

She,said today, she wants to sell it and get rid off it,and was asking $750 for the whole kit-eye pieces, computer controller etc.I told her good luck-as its harder to sell second hand astro gear, than a second hand fishing boat.

I have no interest in Meades, and only use my gear 2-3 times a year,so thought I'd mention it here.Have no idea if that's a fair price,or if anyone actually uses Meades these days, but a 10 inch S.C at that price appeared to me someone here might be interested.

I'll take some photos and rumage around and check it all out if anyone interested.

If it is a 1993 model it may only have the early computer (no two star alignment) and that would be a good price. the electronics were updated in 1994 and you had to buy an upgrade kit to get a new motherboard and handset.

I advertised my 10" LX200 some time ago with lots of extras including a repair kit but could not get my price $2000 so I supect that no one wants them any more.

The OTA should be ok - they were made quitewell.
It'd go well on a azEQ6

hmmm-I'll go and check it out,and take some photos, but not many people use these old clankers these days.I'd say the one for 3.5 K would sit for a while.Think this lady just wants to get rid of it.-I have known she has had it since new.

As Darryl Kerrigan would say "Tell him he's dreaming".

A new Meade 10" ACF is only about $2,800, but then, the advert did say "Classic", so I suppose that adds value?

If he gets 3.5k for that, I think I will advertise my "Classic" Celestron Nexstar on that site.

PS: No disrespect to the seller, but you have to be realistic. I think the newer models are much better optically than the older model. I used to sell them, once upon a time.
