After reading so many forum articles about flocking, I finally decided to take the plunge myself and give it a try, having found a supplier in Australia, and for less than $50 got enough to completely do my 10" Dob.

I striped all the parts off my tube first, then took a picture down the tube with the flash on, I was amazed how bright it was inside, so a few hours later, I had completely flocked it, then reassembled the entire tube, taking another photo with flash, the difference looks amazing.

Now just have to wait for a clear night, to do a side by side test with another Dob, to really see a difference.

Looks good – in theory that should make a difference in reducing the unwanted scattered light.

I got it off ebay from a Victorian supplier, diydecor they are called
Took about 3 days to get it here, I have a little bit left over, so if you want a few inches of it to look at, send me a message and I will mail a bit to you if that helps.

Not bad. Not quite protostar quality but good enough.

I did my 12" Dob with individual adhesive felt sheets from spotlight. The are very black and are A4 size so easy to install. You just peel the back off and stick them to the inside of your OTA. They are $2.50 a sheet and you can find them in the craft section. It cost me around $48 all up. If you don't want to do the entire OTA I'd suggest doing the small area behind your secondary (i.e. the section of the OTA you can see when you look through your focuser without an EP in. In terms of light bouncing around in there this is the critical area where you get light bounce back into the focuser. Cheers.
