Was at Sunshine Plaza last night when the storm came through - we were walking to the car in the multi-level carpark. One strike was very close with the resulting ear splitting crack-boom, echoing violently in the carpark.

There were more than just me shouting 4 letter expletives when that bomb went off! :)

I was actually on the phone at the time with a mate in Kingaroy - even he said some choice words, despite the noise attenuation on my phone :)

Wow Bob, that's one crap day for astro. Solid tube dobs would need big drainage holes near the mirror I would think :P

Nice capture Bob.
I think I have said this before: I miss good storms. NW Tas is wet when it rains but it is NEVER impressive :-(

What's a thunderstorm? Don't seem to get them here, just rain.

Those images are amazing Bob.

I love the way you capture those weather effects.
I hope you're making some money with them - they're beautiful art.

I missed these. Nice shots, Bob. (I tried some cloud shots myself the other day. They came out horrible. It's harder than it looks).

Cheers Justin, worlds at war have been few and far between this season, looking farward to some winter astro tho

Woah, can imagine the situation for yas, spine jolting by the sounds :P dont forget them in a hurry hey

Thanx always Rick

Thanx Graige

Thanx Mirko, would definately wash any cobwebs away also ;)

Cheers & yes mention before Trevor, Have you captured any Sth Auroras, That'd be some grouse Fotos, I'd be after them like a Pink Bat outta Brisbane

Cheers Kevin & Lol, never lived near Mackay, remnants of Ita about your way now to hey

Thanx Leon  quite happy with the nasty appearance considering the storm was at early stages, furthher along it path, Sth end of Mortan Bay wouldave seen the best of it at full wall cloud organisation, just needed a speedboat to get there at the time ;)

Appreciated Greg, every once in a while, storms do go quite wild around these parts, gets the heart pumping thats for sure

Thanks Rowland, a bit hectic under them, worth the effort most times tho ;)

Cheers Derek  how could you watch a cartoon while a super cell is at hand :P Ill remember that next storm

Thankyou Ingrid

Cheers Jenny :D One day I hope so, have been collecting some rather large wall hanging frames for a few of my captures of this & that

Cheers Bot, bit tricky at times to capture half decently, light is ones worst enemy under stormage, some very bright areas and other rather dark, vast dynamic range, I try and combat it with Raw files, Low ISO, a moderate F/ratio, say 10'ish, focus is tricky as clouds in the distance can be like several K's away, but the wild stuff over head is well within a kilometer, I reckon this stuff at closest point over-head was only several hundred meters give/take
Hope this helps if you have another go, PS does wonders to ;)
