I decided I couldn't afford (or find) a new base for my pier for the new EQ6, so I bult my own and it was surprisingly easy.
The top plate I was using for my lx90 was a chunk of 15mm steel that was cut out of a plate about a 11" diameter.
I had drilled a few holes in it to mount a wedge and secure it to the pier top.
I drilled the extra hole for the EQ6 base boss which was about 1.5 inches using a li-ion battery drill and a hole saw!
Now the base of the mount has a second boss about 60mm diameter - so I added a 4 mm plate to the top into which I had drilled a hole (hole saw again!) that I filed out to exactly a close but clearance fit to the boss.
I drilled the azimuth post hole through both and threaded it to take the 10x 1.5mm post thread.

I then fitted it to the mount and checked - perfect - I then tag welded the corners to the plate. - down to the shed and fixed same with the three bolts and Bob's your uncle.
I felt really girly after doing all that.....

Nicely done. I will have to learn how to weld one day as well.
