Don't get excited - just managed to get a decent alignment (well decent enough I guess to be able to get a 2 min unguided shot of Carina that is recognisable.)
My humble little Atom powered xp notebook didn't like the new ascom so I couldn't get the guider going.
By the time I got a laptop primed the clouds had rolled in - well there's always later....
The first time using the polar scope means I wasn't sure what I was looking for and it took a while to find Octans - perseverance - a small amount of LP from Gold Coast didn't help either.

Hi Jennifer, nice and sharp of course, but I am puzzled by the fact that
the image isn't a blaze of light and detail. Were you using a very low ISO
such as 100 or 200 ?

No, the sky is very muggy - I could barely see the stars as it was.
I agree, I have taken better as a quick snap - this was just to make sure the new mount was functoning - and it was.
Polar alignment was a real bear.
It was F6.3 iso 800 and two mins

That's that cleared up. Happy snapping.
