Hi All,

I am selling my excellent condition, DBK21AU618.AS planetary CCD Camera.

An excellent camera for planetary video as well as lunar work, coupled with a powermate 5x barlow I have taken some pretty nice shots of Saturn, Jupiter and the moon with my 8" reflector.

The camera comes with a 1.25" nosepiece, USB cable, software and original box. There are some small marks on the nosepiece from my focuser and/or the powermate but the camera body, chip and cover glass are in excellent condition. This is also a SUPERB guide camera with excellent sensitivity through a finder/guider which is what I have been using it for of late.

Selling this as I don't put much time into planetary anymore and I am looking to grab myself a smallish ED refractor, so it has got to go :)

By the way, this is a OSC Colour camera and only needs a USB connection to your computer to run it.

I have been asked how it is for deep sky, one word, noisy.

It is possible to do long exposure up to 60 mins, but because it has no cooling and isnt really designed for deep sky, the thermal noise lets it down on anything above 3-4 secs per sub.

That said, this is one of the easiest cameras to set up and use and with IC Capture, it is a doddle to get some great planetary and lunar images to stack in Registax,

In response to a couple of questions about this camera:


The camera is a USB version (already stated)
The images taken were with a 5x televue barlow (for Saturn and Jupiter) and prime focus for the Sun and Moon (camera only inserted in the focuser).
No power connection is required, the camera runs via the single USB cable for data and power
It is capable of up to 60 frames per second
Each of the images were of 30 seconds capture (450 frames or 1800 either at 15fps or 60fps) stacked and processed in registax 6
There is no IR filter on the camera
The camera glass covers the CCD sensor and is quite easy to keep clean, a lens brush or blower easily removes any dust


To re-iterate, this is a colour camera, the specifications of which can be found by clicking on the Imaging source website or by searching the part number DBK21AU618.AS.

All images were taken with my 200mm F5 newtonian reflector with a focal length of 1000mm at prime focus.

Surely with Mars looming large in the sky, someone wants to capture some quality video with a superb CCD camera?
