Bobs Knob

I was reading a post somewhere that was talking about Bob's Knobs.

I googled some pictures of them and i have a couple of questions:

Do you have them with your SCT?
What are the pros and cons with this device?
Are they easy to fit to a SCT elescope?
Would you reccomend this device?

Yes.
Much easier to collimate, but easier to knock (though I haven't had an issue).

Do you need to remove the existing collimation screws or does the device fit over them?

You remove the existing screws. There should be instructions in the packet. Main points: do one at a time, with the telescope pointing downward (30-45 degrees or so is fine).

I have them on my C9.25 and they are very good , as said easy to fit ( one at a time :D ) and in use work very well , better than a screw driver that's for sure .
Are you looking at getting some for your SCT ? , get them and you wont be disappointed .

I've got them on the secondaries of a Mak and a Dob.

On the Mak (or on an SCT) they are essential, you don't want to fiddle with screwdrivers or allen keys near the corrector/meniscus in the dark with your eye at the eyepiece.

On the Dob they are convenient.

They are easy to fit, but you will lose collimation in the progress (but that's fine, you love collimating your scope, that's why you're getting them in the first place ;) ).

Thanks everyone, i think i should get them because as stated i dont want to accidently slip and scratch the mirror, waving a screwdriver around in the dark fraction of an inch from the mirrow is asking for trouble.
I will look online and order some tomorrow.

Bobs knobs web page has a link to several australian retailers that apparenty supply BK's but a search on each of those sites say "no match".

Try Astronomy and Telescope in Adelaide. Do a google and you will find the site. Contact Mathew and I am sure he will be able to help. He will post to you.

They are a must on an SCT and make it easy to adjust your scope

Bintel did not have the ones for my scope and suggested going direct which I did.

Very prompt replies to emails for someone US based, he must have been emailing from the eyepiece at night!

I would just go direct to bobs knobs.

I have them on a C8 and highly recommend them. Collimation has been very stable from session to session as well.

I'll add my +1 for bobs knobs. Wouldn't be without them, although my scope rarely needs to be collimated.
