This is strictly EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AT THIS STAGE.
Well, today I finally scooped enough moolah together for my much-covetted FSQ106EDXIII - the wife will roast my cajones with a match if she finds out how much I paid. Ah well, we only live once, apparently.
SOOOOOOO, I guess I am going to HAVE to sell my VERY VERY VERY much beloved Vixen FL102S. These scopes are absolutely legendary, they are THAT good that they rank up there with Takahashi and Zeiss (in fact, many of these measure in BETTER than Tak). The views visually are jaw-dropping (CONTRAST CONTRAST CONTRAST!) the colour correction is unbelievable for a doublet, and the aesthetics and mechanicals VERY good.
It has the standard R&P focuser with the dual speed add on installed (new pinion and knobs etc from an AX103S). This is no shoddy Chinese R&P, nor a slip-o-matic Crayford, this thing will hold 5kg at zenith without shifting one iota. You'd be downright silly to change out the focuser IMHO.
It has standard Vixen tube rings. It will come with a Vixen 6 x 30 finder (the original it had when made back in the early 2000's). It is a much less common AD-VIX badged example, meaning it performed SO well in testing that it was reserved for the Japanese home market (AD VIX is essentially gone now - it was their research division). I am undecided which adapters it will come with, as I am having my machinist turn up adapter tubes with Vixen threads for my Takahashi (saves buying Tak expensive stuff!!!)
There are two insignificant ring scratches on the tube where a prior owner used slightly long screws - no dent, just a ring in the paint. I have put white paint into it (capillary action) and it is nearly invisible. The dew shield has been drilled and fitted with an electrical socket for the included nichrome dew heater. I never tried it, so not sure if it works, as I used a long homemade dew shield extension that prevented dew entirely.
Included also is the dedicated Vixen focal reducer that takes this from f/9 to f/6.4 - just fast enough for decent AP. It has a custom made camera angle rotator, spaced correctly (I designed it, Hugh made it :) ). The FR alone is SCARCE and sells for over $250 if you can find one (thanks Claude!)
My price is FIRM. I will NOT waiver on this one, as I really have no qualms keeping it if need be. It is that darned good!!! I would prefer pick up of course, but I am willing to post AT BUYER'S EXPENSE. I will ONLY send this one Pack n Send.
Price is a FIRM, rock solid, won't be changed $1800
Below are some samples of it's AP ability - the scope performs better than my VERY meagre AP skills!!! Also some shots of the scope in action and with the sadly gone DED108SS.
(MOUNT IS NOT INCLUDED nor is a vixen bar - only the rings)
