Hi everyone,

Does anyone here actively use a Windows 8 phone? I'm looking to replace my Android HTC phone and am considering a Nokia Lumia and just wanted some thoughts from those already down that path.

There's plenty of online reviews, but most of them are more than a year old..

Cheers, Michael.

:thumbsup:Best move I ever made getting a Nokia lumina 520 last year .
I liked the windows8 operating system so much that I got the Nokia Lumina 1020 a few weeks ago when my contract was re-newed .

In use it is so natural that I will never go back to android.

It is that user friendly it makes the others look terribly complicated , but like anything new its a learning curve that once mastered I cant stop wondering why the other phone OS are so complicated  ..

:) , Its that good that the day I picked up my 1020 a few weeks ago the Telstra shop assistant that helped me get up and running was so impressed ( his first play with a 1020 ) with it he will drop his iPhone and grab one of these when his contract finishes.

They are a fabulous OS in any language that is so basic and instinctive when using the touch screen , only 2 pages to swipe side to side and up and down , that easy its super fast and great stuff , an awesome design that makes the touch screen an extension of you body .

Do yourself a favour and go to a phone shop and try it out , you will be impressed with the build as well just like a Zeiss scope , like a tank .

ps. the 41 megapixel camersa is a BEAUTY !!! .

pss. Is old my Lumina 520 to my flatmate for $100 and she is so amaized with it that she will never go back as well .

I also have a Nokia 520 Mobile Phone...running Windows 8.
Very simple to work out how to use the App's.
I downloaded the ' Windows Phone ' Software and used it to transfer MP4 Videos and Pic's to the 32GB expansion card.
I can watch Movies in MP4 with it, SBS on Demand, ABC Iview...etc.
I connect via home ' wireless ' network and retrieve emails and search for other content as I wish.

Anyone can use this Model Nokia Phone....very user friendly.

I don't have a Nokia, I have an Android phone, however everyone I know who has a Nokia/Windows phone speaks highly of them.

Yeah, I have a Nokia Lumia 520 for my work phone. I can't fault it apart from limited availability of apps compared to android and iOS. Hopefully that will improve with time. There are plenty of apps available, but a lot of proprietary apps are only available for android and/or iOS. e.g. my credit union, etc.

Thanks everyone for your feedback - glowing reviews, especially yours Brian. My wife is interested in one too, and ease of use is the biggest selling point.

Kind regards, Michael.

I like my droid. I like the ability to root it and make it my own. I don't require simplicity and like telling/making my phone do what i want, instead of it telling me what it is doing...so I'm happy

The newer versions of android are very intuitive and easy to use. My old android phone was difficult, but my new one runs android 4.3, and I never even looked up any directions-its all obvious on the phone!

Limited app availability would work against Windows phones.

:)You are right to a certain degree , but there are more and more app's coming on stream every day . its just like the first few years of apple and andriod .
They will get there . I actually down loaded 5 today , it wont be long .

Oh yes , I forgot to mention but my Lumina 1020 has windows word/office pre-installed .
It is without a doubt the best phone I have owned , and I have had all the top shelf models from Apple , HTC , Sony and Samsung over the last couple of years , my job takes no prisoners with phones and Telstra keep replacing them , gotta love em ???
