Hi Guys

HaRGB as LRGB. Click here for big (http://fredsastro.smugmug.com/Other/Test/n-8r78c/i-CCfbSGH/A).

This is a huge cock up, untold wasted hrs due to ignorance :mad2:

So, im posting this as a curiosity, it looks different to any other example because no-one is stupid enough to bother to attempt NB on it. Emission nebulae suit NB imaging, reflection nebula suit RGB.

After some 36hrs of 40min subs in Ha wondering why it was so dim, my mistake was pointed out so I took some RGB to recover some dignity :P.

The RGB alone couldnt match other properly done examples, so I thought I would process as HaRGB and be dambed.

Its not flash, I cant be bothered spending more time on this image, its an orphan, but worthy IMO as a bit different.

Cheers
Fred

It appears severely black clipped to me. Wondering whether addressing that might improve the result?

Cheers, Marcus

John Herschel discovered two reflection nebulae NGC 2626 and NGC 5367. I like Fred's image of 2626.
It is hard to see visually because it just looks like a mag 10 star when you have dew on your optics.

I cant remember exactly why its clipped, but I think it was pretty noisy, and given the RGB had little relavance to the Ha lum layer, colour was a bit disjointed and daft with full ha stretch. So Ha brightness in this was cranked way down compared to RGB to prevent odd washed out colour..

Still plenty of details in that neb. Very nice.

It's a good image & I would rather see noise than the black clipped areas.
